In conjunction with Essex Police we have developed a fast track advanced training program (ART or Rapid Advanced Training). Based on the Police riding system this course aims to quickly bring you up to speed with Advanced riding techniques and practices.

About Course

The Course RAT course was developed for Essex Police as a follow on the well known Bikesafe Workshops. The Aim of the RAT course is to take the full licence holder to an advanced level of riding and pass a nationally recognized test in under one week! This course is both demanding and educational.If you have not completed a bikesafe workshop don't panic you can still attend a RAT course.

Using a combination of advance Police riding techniques and classroom theory, the fully qualified instructors (many of which you may have met on Bikesafe) will, with detailed instruction, help you develop your standard of riding to the highest level attainable. Unlike Bikesafe, this is an instructional course and you will be radio linked throughout. Detailed instruction will be given on the application of the Police system of motorcycle control. At the end of the course you will then undergo the I.A.M Test. This will hopefully give you a sense of pride and achievement and the confidence to ride your machine to its safe limits... Along with the benefit of cheaper insurance.

Course Aim

To raise the standard of riding to the highest possible degree of all-round efficiency. To equip the student with the ability to cope with any road, weather and traffic conditions, raising rider awareness and pass a national recognized test in 5 days.

Delivery Methods

This is a practical course which is delivered 'on road' with each student riding their own motorcycle and being instructed by a qualified Advanced instructor at a ratio of 2:1 using state of the art two way radio.





Course enrollment and registration

Requirements of enrollment:

* Full UK licence (cat A) held for at least 12 months
* Full licence (catA) road worthy motorcycle, capable of sustaining the national speed limit
* A legal helmet with suitable eye protection
* Motorcycle clothing, gloves and foot wear
* Assessed ride prior to registration (free of charge)

 I just wanted to say thanks for the last few days, the instructional input has generated a vast improvement in my riding and I find it difficult to believe we went from where I was on Saturday morning to an IAM pass this afternoon. The Sprint and I covered about 750 miles from leaving home on Saturday which is about what I manage in a month most of the time which I think explains the aching muscles.
